Message from the Superintendent
Celebrating Our SRCS Teachers!

Dear San Rafael City Schools Community,

Today, May 8, is the 2024 California Day of the Teacher, an opportunity to thank our educators for their invaluable work in our classrooms and schools.

To our educators: Thank you! We are grateful for all you do for SRCS students, families and the community. While this day is designated to articulate our appreciation for you, your hard work deserves to be honored every day of the year. We strive to celebrate you every day by supporting an environment that allows you to thrive as an educator and our students to excel in our schools.

At a recent meeting, the SRCS Board of Education adopted a resolution in celebration and honor of the contributions of SRCS teachers. Our teachers continue to provide our students with essential knowledge and skills so each of them graduates ready to pursue their goals. The Board and District administration value and recognize their commitment and excellence.

After 39 years in education, it is clear to me that SRCS has some of the area's most committed and talented educators. Each May, public school educators from SRCS and all of Marin are recognized and honored at the Annual Golden Bell Awards Event. The following educators were selected as 2024 Marin County Golden Bell Award recipients and will be honored at the May 23 event:

  • Sarah Eagles-Smith, Bahia Vista Elementary School
  • Kassy Butkiewicz, Coleman Elementary School
  • Alyssa Jones, Glenwood Elementary School
  • Molly O'Donoghue, Laurel Dell Elementary School
  • Molly Todd, San Pedro Elementary School
  • Meghan Greenwood, Sun Valley Elementary School
  • Shawn Koller, Venetia Valley School
  • Aileen Albertson, Davidson Middle School
  • Veronica Mayeda, Madrone High School
  • Jose De La Rosa, San Rafael High School
  • David Tow, Terra Linda High School
As a community, we can be proud of our outstanding educators in our classrooms who are dedicated to doing their jobs well. Their work is not easy, but they remain focused on providing the best education for our children.

So on this Day of the Teacher, I want to offer my deepest appreciation to every one of our teachers. Thank you for choosing to share your talent with us and for your love of the children in our community.

Sincerely,

Carmen Diaz Ghysels
