Artificial Intelligence and Digital Literacy in San Rafael City Schools

SRCS Artificial Intelligence Guidelines
SRCS AI Taskforce Board Presentation

Artificial intelligence (AI)  is a powerful technology that can change the way we learn, educate others and improve the way work can be done. San Rafael City Schools is committed to using AI safely and effectively to help all students understand how AI can best serve them during their TK-12 experience.

During the 2024-25 school year, SRCS created and engaged in a multi-stakholder AI Task Force, comprised of parents, students, teachers, site administrators, and district administrators. Through five working sessions, the Task Force collaborated, discussed and learned aspects about this rapidly evolving technology and its impact in a K12 environment. In May of 2025, guidance was presented to the board, which was adopted in June, 2025.

In the 2025-26 year, SRCS will be launching a district Digital Literacy Technology Committee. The aim of this committee is to discuss and and understand the broader aspects digital literacy skills for TK-12 students. Through multi-stakeholder engagement, the committee’s goal is to share information and recommendations that support the SRCS Strategic Plan.
