Message from the Superintendent
Celebrating Our SRCS Classified Staff!

Dear San Rafael City Schools Community,

This week, we are celebrating 2024 Classified School Employee Week—an opportunity to recognize and honor the many contributions of our SRCS classified school employees! From office staff to custodians, maintenance to food service workers, and everyone in between, classified employees play a crucial role in keeping our schools and District running smoothly.

To our classified staff: Thank you! Every day, you build connections and are true partners in our community! As a classified employee, you are integral to public education and we are so grateful for your dedication and service. There are countless examples of how our students' educational experiences are impacted by classified school employees.

At a recent meeting, the SRCS Board of Education adopted a resolution in recognition of the contributions of classified school support staff in SRCS. Our classified employees continue to display commitment to our students, schools and community, and the Board and District administration are pleased to recognize all of our highly professional classified personnel this week.

Each May, public school staff from SRCS and all of Marin are recognized and honored at the Annual Golden Bell Awards Event. The following staff were selected as 2024 Marin County Golden Bell Award recipients and will be honored at the event tomorrow:

  • Claudia Alvarenga, Office Coordinator, Coleman Elementary School
  • Jesselyn Alvares Lopez, Bilingual Community Liaison, San Rafael High School
  • Alexis Carrillo, Head of Security, Terra Linda High School
  • Gisell Chavez, Office Coordinator, Venetia Valley School
  • Byanca Gramajo, Secretary, Student Enrollment
  • John Harris, Campus Security, Davidson Middle School
  • Pilar Sanchez, Bilingual Community Liaison, Laurel Dell Elementary School
  • Zulay Sclafani, Bilingual Community Liaison, Madrone High School
While many of our classified staff typically work tirelessly behind the scenes, this is a time to ensure we celebrate and express our heartfelt gratitude for all they do to make a difference in the lives of our students, teachers, and families. We are truly grateful for the invaluable support and contributions that our classified employees provide!
Sincerely,

Carmen Diaz Ghysels
